Concordia Voices, under the direction of S. Katherine Shealy, is our mixed voice premiere chorale ranging in age from advanced high school students to adults. Concordia Voices performs two concert series per year from a wide repertoire. Audience favorites include: Randall Thompson’s Frostiana; Eric Whitacre’s Five Hebrew Love Songs and Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine; Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols; and the Fauré Requiem. Other selections feature works by Victoria, Brahms, Mozart, Orff, Copland, and Barber, as well as contemporary artists Ola Gjeilo, Dan Forrest and Chester County composer David Bennett Thomas. Our audiences enjoy performances of traditional spirituals, folk songs, and contemporary a cappella pieces as well. Concordia Voices has toured internationally, hosted and entertained international touring chorales, and has distinguished itself among Pennsylvania’s professional and school choirs with an invitation to perform at the Pennsylvania Chapter Conferences of the American Choral Directors’ Association.
Ariana Women’s Choir and Orpheus Men’s Choir, directed by S. Katherine Shealy, are our women’s and men’s choirs, respectively. These smaller ensembles invite talented high school and college students to join us in rehearsing and preparing a mid-August program of select pieces as well as a combined work. Ariana and Orpheus have both presented premier works: the US premiere of World Premiere of Loki performed by Orpheus Men’s Choir and United States Premiere Of Valkyrie performed by Ariana Women’s Choir.
Our Outreach Ensemble is comprised of eight to sixteen singers who fulfill one of our key visions, that of taking our music into our community, directly enriching the lives of groups and individuals, especially those who are not physically able to travel to a public performance hall. As members of the Chester County Chamber of Commerce, non-profit division, our Outreach Ensemble actively supports the mission of social service agencies by providing vocal and instrumental music at fundraising events throughout the area, and can be heard at Senior Centers, residential care facilities and skilled care homes. From the Philadelphia Phillies Opening Ceremonies to Holiday Community Tree Lighting festivities, our Outreach Ensemble is passionate about delighting music lovers of all ages. In addition to community service, musicians from Concordia Choral Arts are available for hire for ceremonies, functions, and special events throughout Chester and Delaware Counties and the Main Line. Past performances include: Taste of Phoenixville Annual Gala, Phoenixville’s Steel City Coffeehouse Benefit, West Chester’s Uptown! Entertainment Alliance’s Annual Gala, Kennet Square’s Longwood Gardens Christmas, West Chester Old Fashioned Christmas, the West Chester Art Association, Shannondell Senior Living, and the Valley Forge Performance Center. We are return performers at residential care facilities like Downingtown’s Simpson Meadows, and Kimberton’s Spring Mill.
